We, khabarNepal and SONOG team, congratulate Dr. Ananda Mohan Bhattarai for being appointed to the post of "Judge of appellate court" by the King today.
Dr. Bhattarai is a (Alexander von) Humboldt Fellow, currently doing his postdoctoral studies at Max-planck-Institute for International Law in Heidelberg. He was also awarded Humphrey Fellowship(2002-2003) and had done his PD studies at MIT, USA before coming to Heidelberg.
One of his books is "Displacement and Rehabilitation in Nepal : Law, Policy and Practice(ISBN 81-261-0959-9)"
We wish him best of luck for his future.

Well guys, I am sorry, I forgot to mention that Jugdes, whether they are for supreme, appellate or district court, are not directly appointed by the King. De Jure judges must be reccomended by Judicial council to the King, and king can accept or reject that. But in case of judiciary, once judicial council has decided, king does not need to think over that. This means it is simply the matter of 'lal mohar', that he must stamp on the reccomendation. At least judiciary is out of his reach.
So stay cool and wish that judiciary gets highest position in the country so that they can regulate the system by law.
